Dolmadakia are one of the favorite traditional cold appetizers of local Greek and Mediterranean cuisine. The place is full of smells!
Just next to the famous protected cedar forest with the famous Hawaii beach in an area of rare natural beauty here in Faros tou Alykos Southwest of Naxos, our customers book dolmadakia and mom starts the process
A bit pricey but the result compensates us, fragrant with a special taste with fresh and dried onion, mint, dill and fennel that is collected in the spring which our mom keeps for the whole year and of course local fluffy vine leaves to wrap the filling with rice which are boiled next to each other, with the right proportion of water, covered with a plate to keep them firm so they don’t break in the pot, they simmer as long as needed.
Mom’s cooking is priceless
It all started with her at Faros tou Alykos in 1992 on July 4th with the traditional legacy from her mother from the Monastery of Naxos leading the Faros Kitchen for 32 years and us children following the work that has been done all these years
